‘Lest we go the wrong way around with feet so full of longing. Ground has paid my in with vaults and crowns, both pulled from heat still glowing now. And when time’s near to gather - hear the full of fins spill water fear! May we call the fear of sound so crisp then hope dissolves us down. What keeps us whole will hold us out till time lands still devoid of doubt. And when time’s near to gather - hear the full of fins spill water here!

Infinitely Red (free) 02:30
All the time I waste on keeping my feet wet such precious blood flows infinitely red no way to call the music from the dead left where you land knife swiftly in your chest Since what you are no human can resist the mortal mirror golden in your care such fearless arms will carry out the task to bring you back to put you to the test It sounded something like a heart (heart) breaking in half one to the woods, one to the nest not nearly making a sound beat (beat) stumble (stumble) over itself I’m barely making it out, you’re hardly making a sound I did the best I could to keep myself together while the full of the advance was surely more than I could take on by myself We didn’t need to think hard, we didn’t need to think at all (..swiftly in your chest…)

Modest Birds (free) 03:06
I’m impressed by modest birds their wings and their way to fly picking up their hollow knees ignoring those looks of mine though we know the way they need to get to where they’re going home they’ll stay forgetting all the worst that followed them ..the modern words are meant to open up eyes but despite all hidden feeling interest is waning inside I’ll go, I’ll find, I meant to carry wind back for them no they turn their backs and slip away though we know the way they need to get to where they’re going home they’ll stay forgetting all the worst that followed them the modest birds their wings and their way to fly looking up so honestly intending to make it alive

Only Memory (free) 03:47
Making time for you has never been this easy but it’s true I can attest to the night faring well without the muscle to coax you through the spells Gather this up in your memory only Lifting ropes up to the ship that holds you firmly in its scoop When can I ask to move on from this shell? Merely the question shakes all of me, all of me Bearing down just to stop sliding to tell gather this up it’s your only memory Spill the kindest truth, you skip permission scathing only you Clearly this lesson has gone on too long Making it seem worse in spite of you, spite of you never accept to move on for the song Gather this up in your memory only

In case you didn’t know In case you didn’t know I’m right behind you picking up pieces of the last few months I don’t remember. Pieces that I must love I just don’t remember them at all. Well what would I keep to myself if I were questioned alone? Would I keep all your secrets to myself? Or would I spill them right in their laps or would I keep them to myself? In case you didn’t know In case you didn’t know I’m right behind you…

Knee-to-Knee 03:49
There MUST be moments we leave out of our dreams when we recite them to each other knee-to-knee I hope your vision always lasts I hope your peacefulness stays free whether time will catch up to us now or when the boughs of death will bring release it’s all to see… There was an open door peeking through the heat that looked enticing to these tired hands and feet we kept the mission to ourselves even though the pressure was so deep making for the shelter on the hill we will find the prisoner had gone free he had gone free… It takes an ocean to realize the street has taken our lives and put the best luck out of reach go where no vision can be found make the best of everything you see build a track so we can cut around to a place where everyone can meet up knee-to-knee

Shame we caught light of it shame you were feeling sick blame became part of it and I wouldn’t approach the lip till I could see the end of this Where could we hide the myth without calling all eyes to it? since blame became part of it and I shouldn’t approach the tip of the iceberg they are floating in still I keep this inside my grin until time undoes the lie it spins
10.
Of all the places you did run I found a matchbook with your name across the front and wondered how you’d got so far from all the hands that need you, begging for the things that you do now. They held a mission in your name and proved the theory wrong that you had been forsaken. We guessed you wouldn’t be gone long – you left the water running, didn’t stop to take hold of your son. Honestly I can’t see the through the night and what you came for; the music that you killed for and honestly I can’t be what you wanted when you came for; the music that you killed for. You fall apart so easily, despite moving oh-so-carefully. Without losing everything you see I just wish that you could see that honestly I can’t see through the light and what you came for the music that you killed for and honestly I can’t be what you wanted when you came for the music that you killed for.

about

Kentucky was written, recorded, mixed and mastered within 27 days in February 2008. Using only a mandolin, some guitar pedals and his voice, Matthew created an album that defies all conventional logic about the sounds that such a small instrument can make.
